This morning after an early breakfast at our hotel we will be joined by a local Ramork team and head to the great temples of Angkor travelling the way locals do, by Cambodian tuk tuk! We head straight to the best known of all the temples, Angkor Wat and explore this well-preserved temple on foot. It is a massive three-tiered structure crowned by five lotus-like towers rising 65 meters from ground level. The centrepiece of any visit to the temples around Siem Reap, Angkor offers many iconic sights for amazing pictures and hand's on exploration. We continue to the Bayon in the exact centre of the city. This 12th century masterpiece is well known for its 52 towers with faces looking out over vast province of Great Khmer Empire. Here we have the opportunity to sit and relax in the shade and draw our own rendition of the temples in a sketch pad provided by our team, helping to visualise what life would have been like here in the 12th century. We return to our hotel in the heat of the day and enjoy lunch en-route. After a rest we make our way to one of Siem Reaps most visited sites, Angkor Thom. This is where Tomb Raider was filmed and the temple has been left as it was re-discovered, covered by the jungle. There is the opportunity to have our photo taken at the iconic gateway where Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie) emerges from the jungle temple. We head back to our hotel to relax before heading out to Mahob Restaurant for dinner. Mahob is the Cambodian work for food and the restaurant uses only local produce. After dinner we head to the night markets with our crew so the students can try their hand at bartering for gifts and souvenirs. Overnight Royal Angkor 5* Resort

Today is a wonderful experience for the students. After our buffet breakfast we will board our own private vehicle and head out to experience life in a typical Cambodian village. We drive through rice paddies and stunning Cambodian scenery to Pradak village which is renowned for its traditional Khmer Noodles or Ka Tien. We stop off at a restaurant and help cook the villages speciality dish, chok noodles. Late this afternoon we head to the fantastic Bong Thom Ancient village stay. The accommodation is in a traditional Khmer village where our group will sleep in an ancient teak building in a large open air dormitory. The village stay is located surrounded by orchards of exotic fruit trees. It is a wonderful example of village life. Tonight, we discover the secrets of Khmer food as join the local crew at bong Thom and enjoy a cooking class making our own dinner! We get to enjoy dinner with a live Khmer traditional music performance. The students will learn to dance the famous Aspara Cambodian performances. The stay is a real highlight for many schools and many students that visit. Overnight Bong Thom Ancient Village stay.

After breakfast, we take a 30 minute ox cart ride through the village towards the local market to learn all about Cambodian vegetables, herbs, fruits, and other local produce. We then walk to the local village, stopping off to meet and observe the local community along the way, before learning how rice paper and palm sugar is produced. We then have a blessing with local Buddhist monks. From here we visit the incredible Banteay Srei, also known as the "citadel of women", this temple remains one of the best preserved in Cambodia and displays some of the finest examples of classical Khmer art. We return to the hotel to freshen up and take a short relaxing break, before departing for Angkor Silk Farm where we take a guided tour to learn about the entire process from the cultivation of mulberry bushes to the production of silk fabrics and accessories. We admire the Khmer artisans' dexterity with silk threads in producing high quality silk products. We return to have dinner before the night ends with a performance by PHARE, the Cambodian Circus. An exhilarating hour-long Khmer cultural show with professional artists mixing traditional and modern forms of theatre, music, dance, acrobatics, juggling and contortion to perform a story about Cambodian lives and society. This show is truly a wonderful experience for the students. Overnight Royal Angkor 5* Resort

This morning we rise for a leisurely breakfast before embarking on a walking tour of Siem Reap including a visit to the old markets. We then head to a new social enterprise helping disadvantaged women and their families run by a group of Khmer women that makes practical items like drink holders, baskets and souvenirs out of recycled plastic bags. The workshop will engage the students in helping create the pieces that will be sold in their shop front store, Rehash Trash. This not only has a positive impact on the environment but provides the families with an income. After lunch we travel to Theam's House to meet Cambodian artist and designer Lim Muy Theam, who draws inspiration from both Khmer and International design. Theam’s desire to share his artistic and technical knowledge prompted him to set out on a mission to learn about Cambodia, Khmer art and culture in order to research the country’s rich artistic heritage. He trawled through temples and pagodas around the country, visited people’s homes, and studied whatever artwork and artefacts he could lay his hands on. The Khmer Rouge regime had tried to wipe out any reminder of Cambodia’s past – its artisans, cultural artefacts, statues and books. For the last 10 years Theam has trained a team of artisan apprentices who work either at the studio or in their home villages. We will visit the studio and explore the various works being created and stories behind them. We return to the hotel to freshen up and head out for our last dinner. Overnight Royal Angkor 5* Resort

Learning outcomes for students

A World Expeditions Schools adventure is a unique learning experience. Our journeys are designed to encourage thriving and positive youth development along with leaving the communities and environments where we travel in a better condition than when we arrived.
The programs are designed to enhance the following life skills that will help you grow as an individual:
• the confidence to lead a group and make decisions
• the value of working together as a cohesive team to achieve a common objective
• the ability to face mental and physical challenges
• the ability to adapt to new environments outside of their 'comfort zone'
• to appreciate and care for the natural environment. The environments we trek through are beautiful and often pristine, invariably the students will gain a deeper appreciation and understanding about how their individual actions impact on the environment
• build strong friendships and bonds with their peers and also the local peoples
• basic outdoor skills obtained on trek such as personal hygiene, pitching a tent, helping to prepare meals
Importantly our adventures help increase general well-being and build resilience in young men and women to help them deal with adverse situations in life.
